Special Exhibit

“Out of Place” invites artists to explore the complexities of identity, belonging, and the transient nature of existence. We are particularly interested in works that capture the essence of expatriation imbued with people and situations, present through views of places and markings left behind. Your artwork should reflect the view of place in a ‘state of becoming’ that cannot easily be placed on a map, resonating with the experience of being a transient individual, continually experiencing place as a non-place.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Originality and Creativity: We are seeking artworks that push the boundaries of traditional art forms and explore new ways of expressing the theme of being ‘in and out’ of place.
  • Visual Storytelling: Your work should tell a story or convey a narrative that explores the psychological and social aspects of being in and out of place.
  • Anonymity and Mystery: While your artwork will be displayed, the origin, space, time, and geo-location of the subjects are never be disclosed in either the image or the title.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Media: Lens-based, pictorially enhanced images are preferred.
  • Size: Each artwork should be no larger than 30 inches by 40 inches.
  • Submission Deadline: Entries must be submitted by April 15th.
  • Juror: Will be Announced April 2024.
  • Show: May 3-5, with special showings through the remainder of the month.

Prizes and Recognition:

Selected artists will receive recognition and their work will be featured in the exhibit. We are also offering cash prizes for the best entries in various categories, including Best Narrative, Best Use of Anonymity, and Best Visual Representation of Transience.
